Inspirational Quote -- American Indian

from

I found the following quote posted on a friend's facebook wall, fell in love with it, and informed him I was stealing it....
An old Cherokee told his grandson, “My son, there's a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It's anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies, and ego.
The other is Good. It's joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, and truth. The grandson thought about it and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Potty Mouth....

I'm embarrassed to admit that one of my many, many daily struggles is with a.....potty mouth. (hanging head in shame) There, I've admited it publicly.

Have you ever noticed that when you are struggling and praying about something, someone or something comes along and it's as though God is speaking directly to you or that He is showing you a way to deal with it? Well, that happens to me a lot...just yesterday in fact.

I've really been doing my best to "clean up" my language, just when I'd start to think that I was conquering it, out pops something causing me to cringe and immediately ask for forgiveness...then feeling quilty, cause I just know it's gonna happen again. A vicious circle.

Back to yesterday....browsing through my fav blogs I follow, and here's the title that caught my eye: "I so don't have it all together" by Melinda Todd of Trailing after God

If you struggle with this or really, with anything, just go read her article, there is nothing I can say here that would do any justice to this subject like she does, it's really an awesome article, it even made me giggle a few times. She's an honest and real Christian and she made me feel better about not being anywhere close to perfect!

Is there something you struggle with daily? I'd love to hear about it...

Faith & Forgiveness

from

Spring is all about renewal to me, and what's better to renew than one's faith. I rarely struggle with my faith per say, but one of the things I do struggle with is "Forgiveness". I am a very forgiving person towards others, it's the forgiveness for myself and my transgressions I'm talking about.

I know I am to repent, I have no problem with that, and I'm to be sincere in my repentance, I am...what I struggle with is letting go of the guilt. I know we are to repent to God, then trust that He forgives us and let it go...THAT'S the part I have trouble with.

I found an article on one of my favorite blogs that really spoke to me about forgiveness towards others and I know a lot of people struggle with exactly that so I wanted to share it with you, as the author, Melinda Todd, does an amazing job with this subject.

So....ENJOY!!!

Inspirational Message

A Secret Scrolls message from Rhonda Byrne
Creator of The Secret and The Power
the Secret

From The Secret Daily Teachings

When a big change occurs in your life it forces you to change direction. Sometimes the new path may not be easy, but you can be absolutely certain that there is magnificence for you on the new path. You can be absolutely certain that the new path contains things that you could not have experienced otherwise.

When we look back at a negative event that occurred in the past, we often see how in fact it transformed our life. We see how that event directed us toward a life that we would not change for anything.

On of my Favorite Scriptures Phil 4:8

Brown Cross with Silver Heart (i love this cross)
etsy store

One of my favorite scriptures, Philippians 4:8 just happened to be the daily devotional in my email inbox this morning from Love Worth Finding by Adrian Rogers. We love to watch Adrian's television program.
***
Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
***
This scripture helps me to constantly strive to keep my mind only on good things, to strive for honesty at all times. Whenever I'm faced with a tough decision, I think back to this scripture, sometimes it helps, sometimes I need a different scripture. There are some really great websites out there for looking up scripture, a couple of my favorites are...

Love is....1 Cor 13

Happy Valentine's Day

As God's number 1 priority is Love, I thought it only appropriate to post my number one, all-time favorite scripture. For me it is the perfect Valentine love poem.

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails…
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-5, 13.

Learn to Love Yourself

I receive a daily newsletter from the (in)courage website and in one of them last week, one of the authors was talking about that small voice we all have in our heads, the one that constantly criticizes and belittles us. She added the following scriptures for dealing with those voices.
I knew you before you were born. I created your inner most being. (Psalm 139)
You are my child (1 John 3:1)
I love you with an everlasting love. (Jeremiah 31:3)
You are my workmanship (Ephesians 2:10)
I have redeemed you. (Ephesians 1:7)
You are beautiful (Psalm 45:11)
I chose you, you are mine (Epehsians 1:4, Colossians 3:12, 1 Thessalonians 1:4)
You are no longer a slave. (Galatians 4:7)
You are a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
So whenever, those voices start whispering to you, look at these verses again, print them off and hang them on your bathroom mirror if you have to, just read them over and over until the voices in your head become more postitive and loving. And the whispering has become God's voice repeating his constant love and admiration for YOU!

Prayer is FREE

photo is from
"The King will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40
I'm sure by now everyone has seen Ted Williams' story
...and how his mother prayed for him to find his way home. She had not seen him in 10 YEARS.... that is 10 years of prayers for her son, and guess what, God answered! And how did God answer? By sending a good samaritan to pass by where this man was panhandling on an interstate ramp in Columbus, OH
Go to this blog that I follow, Trailing after God by Melinda Todd
to learn more about prayer and ways that you can help others, ways that are FREE.

#2 2010 Reflections

photo taken from "The Miracle Detectives"
http://www.oprah.com/own

#2 on my Reflections List is "What was my biggest waste of time?"

For this I would have to say....television! Not all of it, just the shows that provide absolutely nothing good (no self-help, non-educational, and not even very entertaining). I'm all for a good sitcom that makes me laugh, or a movie that really entertains me for the WHOLE 2 hours, but here I'm talking about the shows that are just simply a complete waste of my time!

So I'm resolving to watch more educational shows, some home decorating, spiritual, shows that help me in my goals of becoming more organized and shows that help me with my desire to make my home welcoming and warm to my family and friends, with only a few "purely entertainment" ones.
With this in mind, I've checked out Oprah's new OWN network and I am sooooo looking forward to watching some of the new shows on it.
Oprah presents..Master Class
The Miracle Detectives
In the Bedroom with Dr Laura Berman
Cristina Ferrare's Big Bowl Of Love
Enough Already with Peter Walsh.
There are of course many more, but these are the ones I'm going to start with...and if they don't COMPLETELY capture my attention or meet my goals criteria, out they go. And I plan to keep watching The Martha Stewart Show and The Nate Berkus Show (I'm constantly picking up home tips from both of them!).

2010 Reflections

For the month of January, I thought instead of doing the "typical" resolutions...I'd reflect on the past year... the good, the bad, and the ugly (love that movie). The idea came from something I read, can't remember now but oh well.

#1 What were the challenges of 2010?

2010 was chock full of challenges so this one is easy.... The only problem is in chosing which ones to highlight here. I'm a true believer in that God allows challenges in our lives right at the time when we need to grow more spiritually. (And boy, He must've thought we needed to do some MAJOR growing!)

In March, Hubby lost his job...9 days later, my ankle and the outside of my foot was kicked by a horse (long story) so I ended up on the couch for 8 weeks, unable to work or help around the house. This was a problem as we needed to get the house ready to sell since we might be moving. Thank Heavens for my mom-in-law, who was there with cleaning and packing help, not to mention bringing meals! Yay for Joy, she's amazing. And also my own mother who doesn't live close was also able to come help out a couple of days. Yay Mom!

You find out real quick who's there for you when you are really down and in need of help. So, of course, MOMS to the rescue! Aren't mothers amazing? Okay that's a blog subject all it's own, so we'll shelve that for later...

Also because of the broken foot and ankle, I was unable to exercize, help train or compete on the horses, so our daughter and new son-in-law to the rescue there...our daughter Miranda, working full-time as a nurse, as well as fostering too young and too sick puppies for the local animal shelter, still managed to show up nearly every day after work to help her dad with the horses, and spent nearly every weekend at competitions with us. She was truly indispensible to us. As a parent, I spend a lot of time feeling guilty and wishing I could have a re-do of certain parenting mistakes, but when your child steps up like ours did, you realize, maybe I didn't do such a bad job after all, had to do something right to end up with such an amazing woman for a daughter.

My challenging list could go on, but I think that's enough, and what I learned is really too many things to list, but probably the biggy is that if you constantly dwell (moan and groan and whine and oh, poor me) on the past, you get stuck. Very hard to move forward once you get stuck, but it can be done...lots of prayers and learning to just let go and give it to God. Not just give it to Him, but really learn to TRUST Him and have faith that things are going to work out exactly as he planned all along!

A Prayer For All

May today be all you need it to be. May the peace of God and the freshness of the Holy Spirit rest in your thoughts, rule in your dreams, and conquer all your fears. May God manifest himself today in ways you've never experienced. May your joys be fulfilled, your dreams be closer, and your prayers be answered. I pray that faith enters a new height for you; I pray that your territory is enlarged. I pray for peace, healing, health, happiness, prosperity, joy, a true and undying love for God.
Amen
